GRADING
SYSTEM
In TMK the grading is out of 10 where the passing grade is 5. The academic year
is divided into two semesters
(terms) where each semester has two main exam periods (mid-term and final
exams). At the end of each semester, students receive reports reflecting their
combined scores. As such, when calculating this score, the mid-term score is
multiplied by 2 and added to the final score which is multiplied by 3. To this
sub-total is added the homework mark (which is given by the teacher and determined
by the participation, well behaviour in class and scores received in the homework
assignments) which is also given out of 10. The resulting total is then divided
by 6 (2+3+1) to determine the subject score which will be written on the term
report. This process is repeated for each subject and for each semester. At
the end of the year (two semesters) students get the year's average for each
subject and thus the weighted average is calculated accordingly, which determines
the student's position (rank) in the class for the year.
